Baby Samuel

 

This is "Baby Samuel."  Samuel a 21 week old fetus who during surgery for Spina Bifida reached out his hand and squeezed his Doctor’s finger.  Samuel and his parents, Alex and Julie Armas, have testified before the United States Senate as a result of this picture and the success of the surgery he received while still in the womb.  Before the surgery, his parents were informed at least half of all babies with Spina Bifida, a disease that damages the spinal cord, are aborted.  Abortion was never an option for them.  They never thought such a terrible diagnosis could lead to such a blessing.
